Memorial Day

For the past several years, the Lenape Elementary fourth graders have gone to St. Mary’s and Holy Trinity Cemeteries to replace worn flags on the graves of the brave men and women who served in the armed forces in the United States.

We coordinate with the American Legion to meet us there.  They explain the service that is given to any fallen soldier in battle or in civilian service.  The flag is folded and presented.  That is followed by a 21 gun salute.  The students then replace all worn flags with brand new flags.  The students are always respectful of the job they are doing.
