Lou Ribar IV holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Trombone Performance and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pennsylvania.  Mr. Ribar also holds a Master’s of Science in Instructional/Educational Technology from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. During his tenure at IUP, Lou was under the direction of Dr. Christian Dickinson, Dr. Gary Bird, Dr. Jason Worzbyt, and Dr. Jack Stamp.

 

As a performer, Mr. Ribar has played with many local and regional ensembles including the Keystone Winds, the Hoodlebug Brass, the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, the Nevin Saylor Big Band, the IUP Community Symphonic Winds, the Kittanning Community Band, and many local pit orchestras.  He also had the great honor to be a trombone soloist on the World Premiere of Derek Cooper’s, “Concerto for Two Trombones.”

 

As an educator, Mr. Ribar has directed many local ensembles including the Armstrong Jr/Sr High Jazz Bands, Armstrong High School Marching Band, Armstrong High School Pit Orchestras, Indiana Area Junior High Bands, Indiana Area School District Orchestras, Indiana Area High School Marching Band, and is currently the proud Director of Bands at Lenape Elementary.  He is a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and holds the position of District III Jazz Coordinator.

 

In the opinion of Mr. Ribar, “The greatest thing about teaching instrumental music is being able to do what you love every single day, and watch it change students’ lives.”
