Note from the Principal:
For those of you who do not know me, my name is Chris Hooks and for the past two years I have been the Assistant Principal at Lenape Elementary. I am pleased and honored to inform you that as of January 2nd, 2018 I have been promoted to the Principal position.
I want to congratulate Miss Kijowski on her retirement and her thirty-fours year of service in public education! She loves our kids and the Lenape community is lucky to have had her.
As Principal I would like to tell you about myself and my vision for our school. I have lived in the Armstrong School District my entire life and graduated from Kittanning High School in 2001. Upon graduation, I attended Slippery Rock University and earned a degree in Health and Physical Education graduating in 2005. After graduating from Slippery Rock University, I was a substitute teacher in the district for a year and a half until I was hired as a Health and Physical Education teacher. As a teacher in the Armstrong School District I have taught at Kittanning Township Elementary, Elderton Elementary, and Lenape Elementary. During my early years of teaching, I enrolled in a graduate program at Duquesne University in Educational Leadership (Principal Program). I completed my degree in 2007 with a Master’s Degree in Education. As a teacher at Elderton Elementary, I was given the opportunity to serve as the head teacher. This helped me develop my skills as an educational leader. I was head teacher of Elderton Elementary for three years before I was hired as Assistant Principal of Lenape and Elderton Elementary. While serving as the Assistant Principal, I have made many great bonds with students, parents, and staff. As the Principal I am sure those bonds will continue to strengthen so we can make Lenape Elementary the best it can be!
As a lifelong resident of the Armstrong School District and a father with children in this district it is my passion to provide them with the best education possible. I have high expectations for our students, parents, teachers, and myself! If we all work together we can make Lenape Elementary the best it can be!
Thank you very much,
Principal of Lenape Elementary
