PBIS Program: H.A.W.K.S. Habits
PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports. It’s a framework that schools use to promote positive behavior and create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
Our PBIS program teaches the same expectations to all students, which are known as the HAWKS habits:
- Have Respect
- Act Responsible
- Work Together
- Keep Safe
- Soar to Success
Using the HAWKS acronym as a framework, we teach our students specific behavior expectations for each area of our school: bus, cafeteria, hallway, classroom, recess, and bathroom. For more information, refer to the HAWKS Chart.
Our PBIS team meets monthly to review program implementation, address challenges, and identify areas for improvement. Lenape Elementary received Tier 1 recognition from the Pennsylvania Positive Behavior Support (PaPBS) Network for implementing School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) with fidelity during the 2023-2024 school year.
